ABOUT MONROE.TECHNOLOGY

Curiosity started it.
Experience shaped it.

I’m Zach, the person behind monroe.technology. I bring a lifelong interest in computing and a practical understanding of the businesses that depend on it.

My interest in computing began in the early 1990s, when a Gateway computer arrived at our home in its unmistakable cow-patterned box. I still remember the sound of dial-up. What began as childhood curiosity became a lasting interest in how technology works—and how to make it more useful.

That interest led to years of technical support for internet service providers and warranty companies. I helped customers resolve internet, phone, and email issues, supported network teams during outages, and coordinated escalations when problems needed a deeper look. The work taught me to listen carefully, explain things clearly, and stay focused on getting people back up and running.

I earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Business Technology, graduating cum laude, and an Associate of Applied Science in Computer Programming. My studies brought together business operations, software, and data, with hands-on experience in programming and databases.

As the IT manager and sole technical support provider for a large convention hotel, I handled network configuration, system maintenance, software updates, backups, and recovery, while working with outside vendors on larger projects. Experience in payroll and business administration also gave me a close view of the workflows, records, and people those systems support.

I saw a recurring need: businesses working around aging hardware, disconnected systems, and data they could be putting to better use. I started monroe.technology to bring that practical experience to more businesses and households. My aim is straightforward: understand what you need, help you make informed decisions, and put technology to work for you.

Start by listening.

Understand the problem and how you work before recommending equipment or changes.

Keep the purpose in view.

Make decisions around your space, budget, and everyday needs.

Plan for what is next.

Consider maintenance and future upgrades alongside the immediate fix.
